Phil Sham
CEO and Co-Founder

Phil serves as Chief Executive Officer of Aquanow where he manages the company vision and strategy and drives profitability and innovation in decentralized finance, digital asset infrastructure and institutional crypto. His prior experience includes serving as Principal – Quantitative Equities at Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group (CC&L) where he was responsible for electronic trading in global equity markets. He also served as Director – Equity Markets for CIBC, where he managed Algorithmic Trading and Ultra-Low Latency Market Access Products. Phil received his Master’s, Financial Engineering from Cornell University, his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University, Canada.

Andy Leung
CTO and Co-Founder

Andy serves as Chief Technology Officer of Aquanow where he is responsible for implementing new technologies to support the company and its partners. He is a senior FinTech industry professional with strong skills in multi-asset trading, electronic trading, capital markets, and digital assets. He is currently an advisor of DeFi lab at UBC and has developed the blockchain capstone program and instructed at York University School of Continuing Education. He served as a Consultant for TMX Group, ISS LiquidMetrix, and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). At RBC Capital Markets, Andy served as Vice President of FICC Electronic Trading and Vice President of Quantitative Equity Trading in New York and Toronto, Canada, respectively. He secured his Master of Mathematical Finance at the University of Toronto and his Bachelor of Computer Science & Mathematics from The University of British Columbia.

Jae Moon
COO and Co-Founder

Jae serves as Chief Operating Officer of Aquanow. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Mathematical Finance, Jae began his career at TD Bank where he focused on valuation modelling and process improvement. Prior to his COO role at Aquanow, he was a core member of the investment approval committee at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, helping deploy and manage more than $200 billion in assets. Over the course of his career, Jae has developed a deep understanding of capital market operations and quantitative analysis. His strengths include internal controls, financial modelling, securities evaluation and presenting to internal and external partners. Jae is very proud of his surname which is particularly suited to the crypto industry. He loves to do anything on the water and snow, or under the sun, especially golf.

Michael Leung
Head of Corporate Strategy

Michael serves as Head of Corporate Strategy of Aquanow where he is responsible for all aspects of AQN Asset Management. He has decades of investment management experience across multiple asset classes. Before joining the company, he was Portfolio Manager and Head of Fixed Income at Nicola Wealth. At Fulcra Asset Management, he served as an Investment Analyst and Chief Compliance Officer. He was also previously an equity derivatives trader at CIBC, and Head of Trading for CIBC World Markets Ireland. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder. Michael attained his Master of International Development degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia. Michael has worked, travelled, and hiked extensively around the world.

Michael Kwok
Head of Corporate Development

Michael serves as Head of Corporate Development of Aquanow. He joins the company from 1832 Asset Management LP where he was responsible for equity investments in technology and consumer companies. Michael previously served in a similar capacity as Principal – Fundamental Equities at Connor, Clark & Lunn Investment Management. He holds a Master of Finance degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University. In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing squash, travelling, and doing crosswords.

Mat Szeto
Head of Institutional Sales

Mathew serves as Head of Institutional Sales of Aquanow bringing a wealth of experience providing trading solutions to financial institutions. He spent 15 years at RBC Capital Markets in Canada and in London, ultimately serving as co-head of EMEA Equity Execution. Mathew most recently served as Head of Institutional Electronic Execution at Peel Hunt, is a Charted Financial Analyst, and a licensed professional engineer in Ontario, Canada.

Arthur Milner
Head of Product Management

Arthur serves as Head of Product Development of Aquanow where he oversees the company’s product roadmap development and execution. He brings over 18 years of experience in equities, with a focus on execution strategies, smart order routing, algorithmic trading, product development, market structure, and performance evaluation. Arthur has held several corporate leadership positions including Senior Product Manager of TMX Group and Director at CIBC World Markets.

Adrian Seto
Head of Trading

Adrian serves as Head of Trading of Aquanow. He is a seasoned fintech entrepreneur with over a decade of capital markets experience with expertise in digital assets and blockchain, trading and risk management, market making, market microstructure, software engineering and development. Prior to his current role, Adrian served in a variety of roles at CIBC Capital Markets including as Director, FX Trading.

Anna Trinh
Chief Compliance Officer

Anna serves as Chief Compliance Officer of Aquanow and brings over 15 years of legal experience providing advice and counsel to technology startups in all areas of corporate and securities law - with a particular focus on regulatory compliance. She received her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance, her Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia - and plans to complete the 6 major marathons prior to the Flippening.
